USE OTHER PREVENTIVE MEASURES:
Mouth Wash: Mouth wash are of two types. One is the cosmetic kind that helps you deal with chronic bad breath and leave a pleasant taste in your mouth. The other is medicinal, which is usually prescribed by your dentist, to reduce bacteria, plaque, gingivitis, receding gums, etc. While buying a mouth for any reason, make sure you check for these ingredients; Fluoride: for healthy enamel, Cetylpyridinium chloride: neutralizes bad breath and bacteria, Chlorohexidine: for reduction of plaque and gingivitis, Hydrogen Peroxide: for whitening of teeth.
Toothbrush: You need to change your toothbrush every 3-4 months. The bristles start to fray after a couple of months, so the toothbrush loses its effectiveness. Worn out bristles will also make your gums bleed. An electric toothbrush will be more effective and also brush your teeth more thoroughly. Avoid Sugary Snacks: Avoid drinking sugary and carbonated drinks. They cause enamel erosion and cavities. Also, avoid eating snacks in between the meals. Avoid mouth to mouth contact: It is very normal to kiss the young children though it is quite unhealthy to kiss them on their mouth. Young babies especially should never be kissed on mouths. As their mouth doesn’t have bacteria that cause cavities so an adult kissing them on the mouth will transfer bacteria that they don’t have and lack defense mechanism to fight against.
