For many people, the kitchen is one of the most frustrating spaces to try and organize. There’s so much that you need to try and fit in there, but you don’t always have enough space, and if you do, everything is stuffed into every little nook and cranny, and it’s not very organized.
Thankfully, there are a variety of options available that can help you to get ahead when it comes to organizing your pantry and cupboards. Here are three tips to make that job just a little bit easier for you.
1. Utilize Vertical Space Effectively
There is so much space wasted if you don’t use the vertical space in your cupboards and pantry. But, this just doesn’t mean that you stack things all willy-nilly. You’re much better off getting small shelves that you can put into the space and finding ways to hang things on the doors. This is a pretty good idea when you’re organizing any sort of space, not just your pantry and cupboards – there are tons of ways to “go vertical” in every area of your home that allows you to store more items and have more space.
2. Sort Space by Categories
As you work out what you want to do with the space, be sure that you organize it based on the categories you’re dealing with. Shelf staples in one area, spices in another area, and so on. Why? Because not only will it make it easier for you to sort things out, but you will also find that it’s a lot faster to notice which particular items you’re out of when you’re getting ready for a trip to the store. You can glance at your pantry, more easily determine what is missing, and add it to the list easily.
3. Eliminate Excess
If you’ve got a lot of “stuff” (and there are many of us who do), you likely don’t have enough space to hold all of it. Do you have extra appliances that you never use? Get it out of there! Whether you put it into public storage Sacramento, sell it at a yard sale, or give it to your local thrift store, you’ll find that there are a lot of options that help you to reduce the amount of items you need to store in there. Also, be sure that you check your pantry for expired items so that they don’t take up precious real estate that could be used for other items that you may want to put in there.
Look at what you can find and talk with people about the options that you have in regards to your situation and needs. You can learn a lot and be sure that you’ve got everything in order for your kitchen to be effective. Explore your options, get creative, and see what a difference it could make for what it is that you need to do and achieve in the long run.
