Maybe you’re looking to explore your inner passion. Perhaps you have a secret love for singing. Or maybe you just want to find something fun and new to do this summer!
Whatever your reasons, it’s never too late to start learning music. There are tons of ways to learn, but the most important thing is to find a method that works for YOU.
If you’re looking into private lessons, we’ve got you covered. We can teach guitar, piano, strings, drums and more! There’s even an opportunity to get singing lessons in Montreal with one of our talented instructors.
1. Don’t Be Intimidated & Focus on the Basics:
While there are a ton of artistic things to do in music, the basics are super simple and easy to learn. It’s important to focus on the basics that will get you started. The best way to learn how to play an instrument is simply by playing it.
If you’re interested in learning how to play an instrument, don’t be intimidated. Instead, pick up one that you think you might like and give it a shot. If the thought of learning an instrument makes your palms sweat, then start with something easier, like the ukulele or guitar.
It’s also important to note that not everyone who plays an instrument is good at it. A lot of people have a natural talent for music, but you don’t need to be a pro at anything in order to enjoy playing music!
2. Choose Your Instrument:
This is a big decision to make. Many people don’t know what instrument they should be playing to start with, but that doesn’t mean you can’t learn it later on. You will probably have an idea of what instruments you like and what you want to play. If you like the sound of the electric guitar, then play electric. If you love the sound of the drums, then play drums. The point is that there are so many different types of instruments out there; it would just make sense for you to choose one that you love the sound of.
3. Find A Teacher/Learn Online:
I highly recommend that you get some kind of lesson. Whether it be from a private teacher or from an online video or course, you need to get something that will help you through the process a lot better than learning by yourself will do. I suggest doing both because getting a private teacher has many benefits, such as having someone who can correct your bad habits and show you exactly how things are done in person (which is very helpful). While learning from an online video or course can help fill in those missing gaps that maybe your teacher isn’t able to cover.
4. Practice on a Regular Basis:
You need to practice playing music regularly if you want to become good at it. Practicing for an hour a day is not going to get you too far, especially if you’re doing it in the wrong way. In order to progress quickly, you must practice correctly. You need to be comfortable while practicing and have everything within reach so that you don’t waste any time trying to get your guitar or drumsticks or whatever it is that you’re using. Your hands should stay in the right position at all times, and your posture should be correct as well.
5. Perform in Public:
Once you are confident about your musical abilities, you can start performing in public. This is a great way to share your music with others around the world. You can perform at events, concerts, or even online through social media platforms like YouTube and Facebook. This will not only help you better your skills but also build a fan following for yourself as an artist.
