Common Online Marketing Mistakes You Must Avoid

April 8, 2019 by Ian Leave a Comment

Selling products or services online is a heavy task because it’s hard to earn someone’s confidence, considering that the potential client does not know you. Despite that, many people have managed to succeed in the online marketing industry, and if you want to become one of them, keep on reading because we’re about to discuss four of the most common marketing mistakes you must avoid if you to want to succeed online.

Mistake #1 Not using social media automation

If you want to market your products or services effectively, you’ll have to be active on at least most of the popular social media platforms (as well as on marketplaces like Clicksdealer.com, Clickbank, etc.), such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Linkedin, Instagram, etc. This is by far the easiest way to reach your targeted audience, but each day has only 24 hours, and you won’t be able to spend your entire time posting. So, what’s the solution? Automation.

Scheduling your posts will save you a great amount of time, and it won’t make your posts less personal. Don’t be afraid to use at least some of the social media tools (whether free or paid, make sure you do in-depth research) you have at your disposal in order to save time and take care of other issues of your business.

Mistake #2 Overwhelming the audience

Although it’s true that longer posts are ranking higher on search engines like Google, this approach has a significant downside. Few people will be patient enough to read a 5,000-word article, which is why you need to split your work more wisely. Do your posts of 1,000 words each instead, and by doing so, you won’t bore your audience too quickly, and on the other hand, you’ll still have a good chance to rank high on Google for at least some of the keywords you’re targeting.

Mistake #3 Forgetting the importance of customer experience

As Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon, once said: “ if you make customers unhappy on the internet, they can each tell 6,000 friends”. Many business owners and entrepreneurs are generally focused on the problems of their business and tend to forget that the ultimate goal is to deliver their promises to customers.

Make sure that your products and services are in line with what you say and advertise, and also ensure a customer support strategy that will help you reach your customers whenever they need your help. Responding as quickly as you can to customer enquires shows that you are devoted to your customers and proves deep care for them, as well as higher reliability.

Don’t take your customers for granted and try to keep negative feedback from people who bought something from you as minimal as possible.

Mistake #4 Focusing just on generating leads

It’s undoubtedly harder to find new customers willing to buy your products as compared to try and sell to people who have already purchased from you before. Even though you’ve been told that you need to focus on generating leads and getting new customers, keeping the customers you already have is much easier.

When someone buys something from you, it proves that what you have to offer to them meet their needs, so maybe other products you sell will be suitable, as well.
