4 Reasons Why You Should Visit Zakynthos This Year

February 23, 2019 by Ian Leave a Comment

The year has already started and we’re quite sure that you have started jotting down your travel spots for the year. There are a lot of dream locations all over the globe but if you want somewhere that is rich in history, flavor, beautiful villas, and natural scenery, then you should put Greece on top of your list.

Warm weather and wonderful culture are in store for you when you visit this Mediterranean paradise. There are a number of islands to explore but if you’d like somewhere that is luxuriously laid-back and comfortably chic, the Ionian island of Zakynthos should be your first stop. Want to know why? We’ve listed down reasons why you should visit this Greek gem.

The Villas

Going on a vacation means indulging yourself and the best way to do this is by booking a luxury villa in Greece where you can relax, have fun, and enjoy your holiday. Spend days without worry just basking under the sun and getting a nice tan by the pool. Pamper your palette with the most sumptuous local cuisine courtesy of a private chef. Have a barbeque party with friends because a well-stocked bar and pantry are readily available. Wind down with a massage or a Pilates session for a much-needed calm. All these are within reach in your private Zakynthos villa.

Best of all, your villa in Zakynthos will have a majestic view of the Ionian Sea — something that will greet you every morning as you peek through your window while lying down your big and cozy bed.

The Spots

Zakynthos has undoubtedly some of the most stunning natural spots in all of Greece. It boasts of cool things to do and spots to visit like fantastic beaches, caves, and islands including Shipwreck Beach, Blue Caves, and Marathonisi Island where you can swim and snorkel with sea turtles.

Aside from natural scenery, the island is also home to wonderful bell towers, museums, and ancient Venetian architecture, ideal if you’re looking for a historical immersion. You may also try a wine tour of the local vineyards and get lessons from a Greek sommelier. You can ask your villa in Zakynthos for a private excursion and tour to these places.

The Food

There’s a special flavor that you can only find in Zakynthos and the best way to taste the local flavor is doing a food crawl! There are a number of restaurants and taverns all across the island where you can sample their delicious delicacies. Must-try dishes include Melitzanosalata, Dolmadakia, and Tyropitakia. If you want to bring home the flavors of Zakynthos, shop for the local cheese, honey, or wine.

If you want an authentic gastronomic experience, you join a cooking lesson from one of the island’s experts.

The People

The Greeks are known to be a welcoming bunch that’s why warm and friendly smiles are what’s in store for you upon arrival. You will instantly feel at home as locals are very gracious and are always ready to provide a helping hand. Hospitality is so ingrained in their culture they have a term for it – “xenia”.

This is one of the reasons why booking a villa in Greece is a good idea. You’re assured that you’ll be comfortable courtesy of the friendly staff that will cater to your needs from check in until check out.
