Las Vegas is one of the most popular cities in not just the United States, but pretty much the entire world. People from all over the globe flock to Vegas in search of fun, relaxation, adventures, spectacles, live shows and even the chance to try their luck at a game of cards.
If you have never been to Vegas, or if it has been a while since you let yourself go free in Sin City, here are a few reasons which will convince you to make it your next holiday spot.
The Welcoming Winter Weather
When you are coming in from the UK or almost any other part of Europe, winter is likely not synonymous to “welcoming” for you! However, here in Nevada and especially in Vegas, it’s the best time to visit. The temperature can go below zero on certain nights, but for the most part and especially during the day, winter in Vegas is a dream come true.
It opens your trip up to visiting natural wonders such as the Red Rock Canyon, without having to worry about the scorching heat of the summer beating down on you. Of course, Red Rock Canyon isn’t the only natural site to visit near Vegas, but it certainly is one of the must visit locations if you are even remotely interested in hiking, exploring and adventuring in general. Did you know that there are about 15 plant species in the Red Rock Canyon that cannot be found anywhere else in the world?
Celebrity Shows
We are going to jump right into something that Vegas has been internationally famous for over a century now; its vibrant show business. In all honesty, you will hardly find a Vegas joint that isn’t bustling with performers and musicians on even the dullest and least eventful nights of the year.
The big celebrities do not perform as regularly of course, but even then, you are more likely to stumble onto a celebrity performance in Las Vegas by pure chance than anywhere else in the world! This year, Steve Martin, Celine Dion, Chris Tucker and Mariah Carey top the celebrity list, but rest assured that this is not even near to being the full list, and a lot of other dates have not even been set yet.
You can plan to coincide your holiday with one of the many celebrity performances in Vegas, but in truth, you will never lack entertainment during any hour of the day, or day of the year while you are in Vegas!
Tasting the Gordon Ramsay Burger
When someone says burger, the name of the fine dining king doesn’t usually pop up, but the celebrity chef is all set to change that perception with his burger joint in Las Vegas. The Gordon Ramsay Burger is actually not just the burger, but the name of the establishment itself!
It’s that one place where people come in and order gourmet burgers, prepared with the best meat, vegetables, cheese, buns and spices available and suitable for a burger. Finish that burger off with French fries hand cut from Kennebec potatoes, and you will end up having trouble distinguishing fine dining from a burger and fries!
It’s a Different Kind of Weather Up There on Stratosphere Tower
When a tower stands 1,149 ft (350.2 m) up, isn’t it obvious that the temperature up there will differ a little? Well, whether that is true or not, you will feel your pulse racing if you do manage to get to the Insanity observation deck (900 feet/270 metres).
Adrenalin junkies can head over to the SkyJump Las Vegas deck just nine metres below and well, jump off it for a bungee jumping experience with machine guidance to ensure safety.
In case you are not that into risking your life by jumping off from nearly 900 feet in the air, head over to the game room which covers a floor area of 80,000-sq. ft. Poker tournaments have a special place in the Stratosphere Tower’s Poker Room and if you are any good at it, this one is a must visit.
Fremont Street Will Overwhelm You
Whether you are betting on horses, checking out the antique collections, watching the light shows or testing your fate at one of the many casinos here, Fremont Street in Las Vegas will overwhelm you with options.
As everybody already knows, Vegas is THE city to test your luck and hand at cards, so don’t be surprised to see poker and blackjack games being hosted in almost any establishment you visit on Fremont Street or anywhere else in Las Vegas.
However, not every poker tournament is worth your attention, because they might not all have good odds in your favour, while others might be a bit shady. Do check out Las Vegas poker tournaments guide in about the best poker tournaments in Las Vegas before joining in on the first competition you see. After all, a big part of visiting Sin City is to dabble in some of the vices it has to offer, but it needs to be worth your time and money as well, so be wise about it and use your common sense well.
Visit the Mob Museum, without the Goons!
We have all seen the Godfather Saga and almost unanimously agreed that the first part was the best, but how about getting a more realistic experience, short of actually meeting Vegas goons in the back alley?
The Mob Museum is a one of a kind place that acts as a reminder of how the organised crime in America began, how investigations were conducted, and what happened from then until now and everything in between.
It’s as much a historical dedication to organised crime as it is to law enforcement in the country. If any of the latest Netflix crime dramas managed to catch your attention, rest assured that a piece of the real article inside the Mob Museum will enthral you as well.
We have already filled the list with six awesome reasons to visit Las Vegas on your next holiday and yet, we did not even mention the likes of Shark Reef, which houses over 2,000 different kind of aquatic lifeforms to amaze both adults and children. The list of exciting things to do and wonderful places to visit in Vegas is just so long that even if we did mention seemingly everything, you will likely end up finding more to add here!
